“All in all Crossfit Liverpool was not the sole reason I was selected to go the qualifier, qualified and competed in the Olympic games”
As part of the GB Boxing programme I was having to contend with two other athletes in my category in order to get selected to go the Olympic qualifiers and qualify for the games. After tests a personalize action plan was devised by the coaches, nutritionist and strength and conditioning support for areas of improvement which were:

  • Improve all round strength
  • Improve fitness and endurance
  • Weight control

 

I traveled and attended many classes around the city looking for extra training sessions to further help me reach my goals, that when I stumbled upon Crossfit Liverpool.

 

From the 1st session I knew it was just the tool I needed to reach my goals and more. Aswell as the sessions being enjoyable, they were challenging and the instructor was friendly, approachable and technique orientated, the atmosphere of the gym was full of camaraderie (just like boxing).

 

Working closely with Matt on the technical side of Olympic weight lifting helped me massively develop my strength within my sessions in camp (with GB). Having the correct technique meant that I was increasing the loads in every session.

 

The intensity of workouts themselves helped me to improve my work capacity and further develop my aerobic endurance, explosive power and meant that I was burning a lot of calories. This in turn helped with my weight management and endurance in the boxing ring in the later stages of a bout.

 

After retesting the results were amazing! I had improved in all areas as well in some other abilities e.g agility, which I credit to the gymnastic type movements used in the sessions.

 

All in all Crossfit Liverpool was not the sole reason I was selected to go the qualifier, qualified and competed in the Olympic games but I do believe it was a massive contributing factor to my successes. For that I thank Matt and all at the gym for their continued support striving to get the best of me every session and I honestly believe I was in my physical peak due to their help. Thank you!
